The major objective of our activities is to promote professional treatment of patients with anxiety disorders by reducing stigma, educating physicians, and demonstrating the effectiveness and safety of new anxiolytic treatments. About 470 patients have participated in controlled treatment studies since 1991, having suffered from social, generalized, or panic anxiety, premenstrual dysphasia, or posttraumatic stress disorder. They and their family members are currently contributing to our study of the vulnerability to develop morbid anxiety by donating blood for genetic research.
