MICHAEL R. JARVIS, M.D., PH.D.
Assistant Professor of Psychiatry

Research Interests

1) Maintenance Electroconvulsive Therapy

2) Psychopharmacology

3) Emergency and Inpatient Psychiatry

4) Psychiatric Education

Specific Research Activities

My research on health economics involves the evaluation of factors that determine use of inpatient services and resources. Specifically, we are interested in the hospital length of stay as an appropriate measure of quality and use of resources.

My research with maintenance ECT focuses on better characterization of mechanisms of action and the development of clinical guidelines.

Special Populations, Data Sets and Facilities

We have primarily used hospital based data sets for evaluation of hospital economics. Our research on maintenance ECT is based on a large clinical population.
