CONFIDENTIALITY:  All information is kept strictly confidential.  Blood is sent to the laboratory with an identification number (instead of a name).

DIAGNOSTIC INTERVIEW:  A procedure in which the individual is interviewed by trained personnel.

DNA LINKAGE STUDY:  A study to identify the genes responsible for Unipolar Recurrent Depressive Disorder.  Blood samples are used to create living cell lines that are stored at a central laboratory.  DNA from these cells is saved for scientific analyses.
