A Randomized Controlled Trial of Parent-child Interaction Therapy-Emotion Development for Preschool Depression

WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY?
Parent and child will work with a therapist to improve their relationship. Parents will learn and practice safe and effective disciplinary techniques. Parent and child will learn strategies to identify and manage a broad range of emotions.
WHO IS NEEDED?
Children ages 3-6 years old
WHAT IS INVOLVED IF I PARTICIPATE?
Duration: Subject participation in study is 36 weeks long.
Risks: Discomfort answering questions, may feel better or worse depending on reaction to treatment; breach of confidentiality.
Benefits: We don’t know if you will benefit from being in this study. However, we hope that, in the future, other people might benefit from this study because the study will add significantly to our knowledge of the development and treatment of preschool depression.
Compensation: Up to $400 for parent; up to $30 in gift cards for child.
