Welcome to the Weight Management and Eating Disorders Research Program
The Weight Management and Eating Disorders Research Program, within the Washington University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry, is directed by Denise E. Wilfley, Ph.D. The Weight Management and Eating Disorders Research Program specializes in a diverse array of clinical and behavioral research. Our research efforts focus on the causes, characterization, prevention, and treatment of eating disorders and obesity in a wide range of patient populations, as well as improving access to care.
Overarching research objectives include investigating the role of familial and social factors in the etiology, prevention, and treatment of eating and weight disorders; utilizing principles of basic behavioral science to inform eating disorders and obesity research; determining intervention strategies aimed at preventing comorbidity, relapse, and disability in eating disorders and obesity; and developing and examining efficient training and delivery methods for the implementation of evidence-based interventions for eating disorders and obesity in primary health care settings.
