Harnessing Technology for Training Clinicians to Deliver Interpersonal Psychotherapy
Recruitment Starting Summer 2014
Through generous funding from the National Eating Disorders Association’s Feeding Hope Fund for Clinical Research & Training, we are developing the first guided online training program for interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), an evidence-based treatment for bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and subclinical eating disorders. In collaboration with Stanford University and Rutgers University, we are also developing an innovative procedure for providing ongoing supervision using a novel telephone-based simulation assessment. Combined, the guided online training program and the telephone-based simulation assessment will increase our ability to train clinicians to the highest quality through streamlined training and assessments that conserve person-based resources. Twenty therapists will be recruited from college or university-based counseling centers in Missouri. Assessments will be conducted before training, post-training, and after therapists deliver IPT to two eating disorder patients.
