Comprehensive Maintenance Program to Achieve Sustained Success (COMPASS)
No longer recruiting
This study was the first to examine the efficacy of two strategies designed to improve the long-term maintenance of weight loss in overweight children. Children, along with one participating parent, completed a family-based behavioral weight loss treatment. After completion of the weight loss program, families were randomly enrolled to receive either enhanced Social Facilitation Maintenance treatment (SFM+) or a health education program. Participating families completed assessments throughout the year-long treatment and over the course of two-year follow-up.
